Dr. Thomas W. Fox, 65, of 20828 Alden St., Meadville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Meadville Medical Center following a 3-year survivorship of stem cell transplant surgery for Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
He was born April 4, 1941 in Cleveland, OH, a son of Milford and Jane Fritinger Fox. He married Carolyn James July 7, 1979 and she survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Cardinal High School, Middlefield, OH and subsequently graduated from The Ohio State University and in 1968 he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He worked as a Veterinarian beginning with Dr. Arthur Langdon of Meadville and subsequently for Dr. Jim Dross of Conneaut, OH; Dr. Larry Spencer of Cochranton; Dr. Daniel Leveto of Meadville; and the Glenwood Pet Hospital of Erie.
He was a member of Western Reserve Masonic Lodge 507 of West Farmington, OH; Scottish Rite Bodies, Erie; Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie; Crawford County Shrine Club, Meadville; American Veterinary Medical Association; and the Northwest PA Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He enjoyed assisting his father who raised Morgan Horses, was a civil war enthusiast including visiting several civil war battlefields, enjoyed riding his John Deere tractor, traveling, coin collecting, and especially his dog “Keeley”.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 26 years, include his mother, Jane Fox of Springboro; 2 sisters, Susan Truesdell and her husband James of Rochester, NY and Gail Amolsch and her husband Keith of Meadville; a brother, Marc Fox and his wife Karen of Springboro; a cousin, Rebecca Thompson and her husband Alan of Stafford, VA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
