Dr. W. K. Fisher, 74, of Meadville, physician and surgeon since 1940, died at home Tuesday, June 22, 1982, after a long illness.
He was born at Wilkinsburg, April 18, 1908, son of Wilbur and Sara Bennett Fisher. He married Jean Ludebuehl May 28, 1941.
Dr. Fisher, who retired in 1973, specialized in treatment and surgery of eye, ear, nose and throat. Dr. Fisher had been practicing medicine in Meadville for two years when he left in 1942 for four years of service with the 27th General Hospital, University of Pittsburgh, in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was discharged as a major.
Dr. Fisher was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is a member and past president of the staff of City Hospital and past president of Crawford County Medical Society.
Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Fisher was a member of the American College of Surgeons and of the PA and American academies of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He held various offices in the state academy. He was a member of the PA Medical Assn. and Pan-American Medical Assn.
He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and a former member of the Literary Union. He belonged to the Country Club and Iroquois Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles W. of Meadville and John K. of Marion, OH and four grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
