Dr. William E. Hyskell, 82, prominent Meadville Physician, died at City Hospital Saturday, night where he had been a patient since Thursday.
Dr. Hyskell practiced in Meadville from 1907 to 1955 when he retired. He was one of the first tenants of the Masonic Building when it opened in 1913.
He served as a member of Meadville Board of Health for a number of years, and served several appointments as Crawford County medical director.
He was a member of Stone Methodist Church since coming to Meadville and also belonged to the Round Table Masonic Lodge 234, Solomon Royal Arch Chapter of the Masons, Masonic Consistory, NW Commandery 25, Knights Templar, and the Crawford County Methodist Society.
He was a veteran of World War I, having served overseas for two years as a US Medical Corps doctor in France and Germany.
He was born in Smicksburg, PA, and was a graduate of Indiana State Teachers College. He held a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and started practice in Indiana County, in 1903 before coming to Meadville four years later.
Dr. Hyskell is survived by a sister, Mrs. Stella Farra of Hood River, OR; and a brother, Dr. Ira D. Hyskell of New York City. His wife, the former Mary Bell of Altoona, died in 1936.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
