Dwight Hulse, 81, of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born July 26, 1931 in Los Angeles, CA, a son of Dwight and Vernette White Hulse. He married Mary O’Day June 24, 1977 and she survives.
Dwight was a 1953 graduate of UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Political Science. He received his PhD in Education from the State University of New York at Albany in 1980. Dwight worked in public education in California and subsequently New York. He retired as superintendent of schools in Wappingers Falls, NY.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Meadville.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary of 35 years, include three sons, Dwight Hulse, III and his wife Denette of Grizzly Flats, CA, David Hulse and his wife Evette of Salem, OR, and Tim Hulse and his wife Andrea of Mount Airy, MD; a sister, Diane Dahlberg of Lincoln City, OR; and three grandchildren, Dwight Hulse, IV and his wife Lindsey of Foster City, CA and their son Quinn, Christopher Hulse of Mount Airy, MD, and Makayla Hulse of Mount Airy, MD.
A memorial service is today at 10:00 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 346 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Carmen Emerson, Pastor officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish House.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesbury Foundation, 31 N. Park Ave. or the Unitarian Universalist Church, 346 Chestnut St., both of Meadville, PA 16335.
