E. Glenn Burns

E. Glenn Burns, 88, of Woodcock Township, died Thursday, September 6, 1984, at United Methodist Hospital after an illness of several years.

He was born in Woodcock Township, April 22, 1896, a son of Eugene and Maria Bittles Burns.  He first married Myrtle Barnett, and she preceded him in death.  He then married Edith Tidd Battin on September 28, 1974.  She preceded him in death on December 10, 1980.

Glenn was a farmer in Woodcock Township for most of his working life.  He raised and broke draft horses and served as Draft Horse Chairman at the Crawford County Fair for over 30 years.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Eleanor) Allen of Cochranton, Mrs. D. W. (Betty) Rowan of Meadville, Mrs. Raymond (Shirley) Higby of Sugar Grove and Mrs. William (Florence) Townley of Cambridge Springs; a brother, Kenneth Burns of Meadville; several step children; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Rust; an infant daughter, and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
