Edna K. Wightman

Edna K. Wightman, 96, formerly of Hendersonville, NC, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since February  1996, died at her residence Tuesday, March 23, 1999, after a period of declining health.

She was born in Coraopolis, March 28, 1902, a daughter of Henry J. and Lena Kuhn DeGrange.  She first married Rudolph E. Langhans, December 18, 1943, and he died June 26, 1970.  She then married John E. Rufty, January 12, 1973, and he died January 10, 1977.  She then married Everett F. Wightman, May 18, 1981, and he died November 1, 1995.

She was a graduate of the Saegertown public schools, Meadville Commercial College, and majored in voice and piano at the Pennsylvania College of Music in Meadville.  She had been employed as a Secretary at the First National Bank of Meadville for 18 years, and had been an executive secretary at the former Keystone Ordinance Works for a brief period.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Pardee Hospital Aux., Friends of the Library and Chapter "H" of PEO, all of Hendersonville, NC.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Virginia Wightman Pugh of Mission, KS; two step-sons, Elson David Langhans of Seattle, WA and Robert B. Wightman of Utopia, TX; a niece, Nancy M. DeGrange of Meadville; five nephews, Dr. David DeGrange of Meadville, Ronald DeGrange of McMurray, John DeGrange of Rolling Meadows, IL, John W. (Jack) Lang of Meadville and Robert H. Lang of Surfside, SC and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene M. DeGrange Lang and two brothers, Dr. Harold H. DeGrange and Alvin J. "Chick" DeGrange.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Shepherd Memorial Park, Hendersonville, NC.
