Edna M. Lafferty, 84, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died Saturday, September 5, 1998 at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in New Castle, October 2, 1913, a daughter of Charles R. and Vivian A. Baker Umbright. She married Harry W. Lafferty January 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death February 11, 1996.
She retired in 1973 as an Industrial Nurse with the American Viscose Co. after working there from 1940-1946 and 1958-1973. Previously, she had worked as a nurse at City Hospital from 1937-1940.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She attended Allegheny College and was a graduate of the Hahneman Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She enjoyed camping, gardening and her flowers, and she was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross blood drive.
Survivors include a son, Wayne M. Lafferty of Morehead, KY; a sister, Doris A. Umrbight of Erie and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Wendorf.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was cremated remains was in Greendale Cemetery.
