Edna Rhodes Dinger, 90, a resident of Hillside Home since August 1986, died at the home on Wednesday, January 11, 1989, following an illness of several months.
She was born in Reynoldsville on July 10, 1898, a daughter of Peter B. and Cecelia Hanna Rhodes. She married Edward L. Dinger on June 17, 1972. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1985.
Mrs. Dinger retired in 1964 as art supervisor in the Meadville School system where she had been employed for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church. She received her teaching certificate from Clarion State Normal School in 1929, a bachelor of science degree in public school art from Edinboro in 1931 and she received a masters from Peabody Teachers College. She was a member of the former Meadville Fine Arts Assn. and a member of the PA Retired Teachers Assn.
Survivors include three sisters, Stella Rhodes of Reynoldsville, Zola Clontz of Reynoldsville and Ida Tapper of Rockton; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Raymond Rhodes and two sisters, Mildred Resinger and Florence McGowan.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
