Edward C. Kightlinger, 81, of Meadville, died Thursday morning, November 11, 1971, at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Erie after an illness of a year.
He was born at Littles Corners, Hayfield Township, March 15, 1890, a son of George and Ella Nisley Kightlinger. He married Hester Hellyer August 25, 1943.
He last was employed as a guard for three years at the Meadville Malleable Iron Division of Dayton Malleable Iron Co. Prior to that he was a laborer for nine years with Talon Division of Textron, Inc., and previous to that had been a boilermaker for 20 years at the Erie Lackawanna Railway Co. shop.
Mr. Kightlinger was an Army veteran of World War I, serving in Europe with the Rainbow Division of the 168th Infantry Retirement. He was a member of Veterans of World War I, Barracks 1458 of Meadville.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Miss Harriet Kightlinger at home; three sons, George of Baltimore and Herbert and Clarence, both of Meadville; a brother, Elmer of Meadville; two grandsons, Brian and Robert Kightlinger, and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Mrs. Mildred Osborne, preceded him in death.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
