Edward C. Lepley, 92, of Oxon Hills, MD, formerly of Meadville, a retired insurance salesman, died Saturday, June 12, 1993, at Greater Southeast Hospital in Washington, DC, following an extended illness.
He was born in Philadelphia, November 14, 1900, a son of George and Ada Depp Lepley. He married Helen Reuter, July 31, 1939. She survives.
He retired in 1965 as insurance representative with Metropolitan Life Insurance. In his retirement, he worked as city of Meadville Tax Collector for seven years. He was a member of Pompano First Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Meadville. He was a member and past president of Meadville Rotary Club, member of American Legion Post 111, 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 313 in Indiana, served on the board of directors of the local Girl Scout Council and the Wayne Township School Board, Indiana, and was a veteran of World War I, serving with the US Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, R. Donald Lepley of Salem, OH and G. Edward Lepley of Meadville; two daughters, Joan Sloan of Oxen Hill and Peggy Osborne of Artesia, NM; a brother, Frank Lepley of Punxsutawney; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gene Lepley and seven brothers and sisters.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
