Edward James (Jim) Hanks, Jr.

Edward James (Jim) Hanks, Jr., 79, of Cambridge Springs, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Crawford County Care Center.

He was born December 2, 1939 in Meadville, a son of Edward James and Mildred Lasher Hanks, Sr.  He married Ruth Sanders August 19, 1972.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.  He was employed at Carnation Can Company, Cambridge Springs for over 35 years.

A member of Draketown Christian Church, Jim was an awarded student of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio and enjoyed oil painting and bicycling.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 381, Cambridge Springs, volunteer for the Cambridge Area Volunteer Ambulance Service and formerly played Santa Claus in Cambridge Springs.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Ruth, include two daughters, Julie Lippert (John) of Saegertown and Susan Kavelish (Michael) of Edinboro; four grandsons, Jeffrey Labonowski, Justin Hunter, and Michael and James Kavelish; two great-grandsons, Damian and Wyatt; and a sister, Elaine Hanks of Meadville.

A memorial service will be Saturday, February 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at Draketown Christian Church, 12460 Draketown Rd., Edinboro with Pastor Ron Kennedy officiating.
