Edward Humphrey Laderer, Sr.

February 25, 1927 — October 21, 2023

Edward Humphrey Laderer, 96, of Conneaut Lake, passed peacefully away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at his home.  He was born February 25, 1927 in Grove City PA, a son of Harry Reed and Helen Margaret Humphrey Laderer.

He graduated from Meadville High School in 1945, enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. Three days later he joined the family business, Humphrey’s Master Cleaners. He owned the business with his brother, Robert, for 28 years before retiring in 1989.

Ed is predeceased by his loving wife, Martha Jane Zimmer Laderer, who he married on September 11, 1948. They have five caring children, Harry (Marian) of Huntersville NC, Ed Jr (Amy) of Lakeland FL, Laura (Terry) of Pittsburgh, Marcy (Dave) of Blairsville GA, John (Jinny) of Babson Park, FL; 13 grandchildren (Ryan, Johnny, Ned, Leslie, T, Mike, Colin, Gabby, EJ, Jacob, Ally, Kayli, and Mary) and 8 great grandchildren (Annalies, Micah, Ellis, Benson, Lawrence, Johnny, Emery and Will). Three siblings preceded Ed in death: Doris Jean Laderer Young, Robert Reed Laderer and Margaret Helen Laderer Stanton.

Ed was a fan of any motor vehicle: cars, tractors, motorcycles, dune buggys, ATVs, boats, and his favorite, planes. They were considered his toys and he could match any family event to the toys he owned at the time. His most precious time was that spent with family and those toys loaded with laughter, fun and games. We could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and role model. He will be greatly missed by his toys, his daily bowl of ice cream and his family.

Arrangements are under the direction of WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE where memories and condolences may be shared at www.waidcolemanfh.com. There will be no public viewing or funeral per his request.

Memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Shontz Memorial Library, 145 S. 2nd Street, P.O. Box 5117, Conneaut Lake PA 16316.
