Edward J. Broms, 66, of Meadville, died Thursday, July 17, 1980, at the United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital, after a two month illness.
He was born at McKeesport, October 29, 1913, son of Gustave and Lida Malone Broms.
He married June Eilzabeth Heffern, May 29, 1937.
He retired as a cost analyst for Talon Division of Textron in February 1976 after 38 years with the company.
He was a graduate of Sandy Lake Public Schools; a member of First Presbyterian Church, having served as a deacon and elder, and had served on a planning committee for Farimont-Fairview housing project. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 408; Scottish Rite Bodies, Erie, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, Crawford County Shrine Club, Crawford County Historical Society; Elks Lodge No. 219, and Talon Management Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Marjorie) Waddell of Ormond Beach, FL; a sister, Mrs. Ellen B. Childs of Meadville; two brothers, Charles H. Broms of Meadville and Willard G. Broms of Polk; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David, and a son, Lt. Cmdr. E. James Broms, Jr., who was lost in Vietnam in 1968 while serving with the US Navy.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City.
