Edward J. Runser, 46, of Wooster, OH, died Saturday, July 8, 1995, at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness.
He was born in Erie, April 10, 1949, a son of Edward J. and Marie Boss Runser, Sr. His parents preceded him in death. He never married.
He was a 1973 graduate of Edinboro University and a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
He was the manager of the Florence O. Wilson Bookstore at the College of Wooster for the past 12 years. Prior to this position, he worked as a department manager in the bookstore of the University of Kansas, Georgetown, Case Western Reserve and Southeast Massachusetts Universities.
He was past chairman of the United Way campaign for the college, a member of the Greek Life Committee, and an adviser to three Greek men's organizations.
He was a former member of the Grand Council (Board of Trustees) as well as first national vice president of Delta Sigma Phi; past president of the Metro Assn. of College Stores, the Ohio Association of College Stores; and served as trustee-at-large of the National Assn. of College Stores. He was the first recipient of the national group's Humanitarian Award, which recognizes outstanding service of individuals within the profession.
Wooster established a Edward J. Runser Leadership Award for a senior employed on campus who has exhibited exceptional leadership through activties with the student body and student employment forces.
Survivors include several aunts and uncles.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Mount of Olives Cemetery, Erie.
