Edward S. Smock, 97, died Thursday, June 17, 1976, at the United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital where he had been a former Alboin resident and had been ill for several months.
He was born in Crawford County, May 20, 1879, son of Sylvester and Lydia McCracken Smock. He married Maude May Hank November 2, 1904. She died November 7, 1975. They first resided at Meadville until 1918, moving to Albion where they resided until 1963. Then, they moved back to Meadville. Shortly thereafter, they became residents of the United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital. He had retired as a boilermaker from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Albion, and a 67-year member of Cussewago Lodge, IOOF.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Marian) Jenkins of Warren, OH; a brother, Bertram Smock of South Bend, IN; a granddaughter, Miss Arlene Moore of Youngstown, OH and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
