Edward 'Ted' Dewey Gleason

Edward “Ted” Dewey Gleason, 78, formerly of Painesville, OH and a current resident of Rolling Fields, Conneautville, passed away there Saturday, November 12, 2005 following a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born September 27, 1927 in Meadville, a son of the late Harold and Ethel Bentley Gleason.  He had been married to Martha Bailey and subsequently married Kathryn Tibbits in 1982 and she preceded him in death in 1999.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and graduated from Fenn College, Cleveland in 1957.  He lived and worked in the Cleveland area during his career as a mechanical engineer.  He was active in the United Methodist Church, most recently the First United Methodist Church of Painesville.  He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan, enjoyed golfing, trips to Florida, and was a Civil War buff.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gleason Luduena and her husband Richard of San Antonio, TX; a granddaughter, Sara Luduena of San Antonio, TX; 2 brothers, his devoted twin, John Gleason, and Walter Gleason and his wife Bette, all of Meadville; a sister, Helen Hill and her husband Richard of Waynesboro; 3 stepsons, Richard Tibbits and his wife Bette of Painesville, OH; Bert Tibbits and his wife Monet of Houston, TX; and William Tibbits and his wife Linda of Pensacola, FL; a stepdaughter, Beverly Milo and her husband Jack of Mentor, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Harriet Handley, Ruth McBride, Evelyn Yoder, and Mary Lou Hillman; and an aunt, Helen Gleason.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral and committal service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harlan Nefstead, Pastor of Wayland Baptist Church officiating with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville.
