Edward Thomas Longstreth, Sr., 68, of Meadville, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
He was born July 2, 1945 in Meadville, a son of the late William E. and Stella L. Baker Longstreth. He married Linda Beatty May 1, 1965 and she survives.
Ed was employed at Channellock, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 2005. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at Jack’s Pharmacy in Meadville.
Ed was a proud member of Meadville Masonic Lodge 234, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Charles Stafford American Legion Post 111, Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 23, and Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 27. Although his hobbies included fishing and hunting, his favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Linda of 49 years, include five children, Tina Jennings and her husband Mike of Anchorage, AK, Edward Longstreth, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Meadville, Thomas Longstreth and his wife Amy of Roswell, GA, Jeffery Longstreth of Meadville, and Julie Winters and her husband Ron of Clover, SC; eleven grandchildren, Alisha, Alexia, and Michael Jennings, Zachary, Ashton, Jacob, Lauren, and Haley Longstreth, and Kayla, Mason, and Caya Winters; two sisters, Margaret Pechin of Cambridge Springs and Betty Stearns of Franklin; two brothers, William Longstreth and his wife Barbara of Erie and James Longstreth and his wife Sandy of Meadville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Brown and two brothers, Robert and Eckert Longstreth.
A memorial service for family and friends will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Community Church, 7474 Mercer Pike, Meadville. A celebration of life gathering will be Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Dept., 16589 McMath Ave., Meadville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 3524 W. 26th St., Erie, PA 16506.
