Edward W. Kerr, 65, of Sunnyside Ave., Meadville died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Pittsburgh September 29, 1943 a son of Ralph and Ida Steigerwald Kerr. He married Carol McGranahan December 16, 1967 and she preceded him in death in July 1996. He subsequently married Janet Brawley Stark November 25, 2000 and she survives.
He was a teacher for 32 years in Cochranton, teaching seventh grade earth science and eleventh grade chemistry, retiring in 1997. He was a 1961 graduate of Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh and a 1965 graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. He was a member of New Beginnings Church of God, was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and enjoyed collecting lighthouses.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Janet, include: a son, David S. Kerr and his wife Wendy of Palmyra, PA; two step-sons, Kurt Stark and his wife Amanda of Albuquerque, NM and Kent Stark of Baltimore, MD; three brothers, Ralph Kerr, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Oakmont, PA, Richard Kerr of Utica, PA and James Kerr and his wife Shirley of Penn Hills, PA; a sister-in-law, Pat McGranahan of Salisbury, MA; six grandchildren, Gavin, Landon and Emelia Kerr and Preston, Gabriella and Kelsey Stark and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William McGranahan.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA.
The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Ferraro, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
