Edwin Dale Peterson, 80, of 23858 U.S. Hwy 322, Cochranton and formerly of Shilling Road, Meadville, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born August 21, 1932 in Cochranton, a son of Samuel C. and Elsie Ella Baker Peterson. He married Lois J. Shilling August 6, 1960.
Dale was a graduate of Cochranton High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed at W.L. Dunn Construction Co., Cochranton, Schnarrs Construction Co., Meadville, Will Shilling Construction Co., Meadville, and was a part-time farmer.
Dale was a member of the Cochranton Sportsman’s Club and Station 4, Cochranton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the family and friends that camped at he and his wife’s farm many weekends throughout the summers. He also especially enjoyed the many family gatherings at their home and spending time with his many nieces and nephews and their children.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Lois of 52 years, include two sisters-in law, Margaret Gevin and her husband Milo and family of Cochranton and Edith Shuffstall and family of Conneaut Lake; a brother-in-law, John Shilling and his wife Kay and family of Conneaut Lake; the family of his deceased brother-in-law, Duane Shilling; a sister, Donna June Shilling and family of Meadville; a brother, Harry Duane Peterson and his wife Martha and family of Cochranton; the family of his deceased brothers, Wilfred Peterson and Russell Peterson; and the family of his deceased sister, Shirley Mix. He was additionally preceded in death by a sister, Florence Davis and two brothers, Kenneth G. and James Peterson.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Christine Rogan, Pastor of Faith United Methodist Church, Geneva, officiating.
Interment will be in Huber Cemetery, Union Township with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
