Edwin G. Dillaman, 81, of Meadville, died Sunday, September 6, 1998 at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born October 10, 1916 in Hayfield Township, a son of the late George W. and Mildred Graham Dillaman. He married Eleanor Clifford, October 21, 1939. She preceded in death October 16, 1962. He subsequently married Elsie E. Knapp, October 11, 1969. She survives.
Mr. Dillaman was a 1933 graduate of Meadville High School. He worked for 25 years at McCrosky Tool, first as a grinder and later as a foreman. He also managed the family farm for many years before retiring in 1981. He was a life member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219. He was a member of the Western Crawford Masonic Lodge #258 and Kismet Grotto. He was a charter and life member of Hayfield Township Central Hose Co. He was a member of the Norrisville Sportsman's Club and Hayfield Grange #800. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed doing handywork and visiting family and friends.
He was a 50 year member of Littles Corner United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Roger E. Dillaman (Elaine) of Conneautville and Philip E. Dillaman (Mildred) of Meadville; six grandchildren, Tina Chambley, Lisa Dillaman, Joanne Styborski, Brian Dillaman, Kevin Dillaman and Jody Dillaman; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachael Weibel of Conneautville; four brothers, Clayton Dillaman (Mary Jo) of Grosse Point Woods, MI, Max Dillaman (Florence) of Meadville, Robert Dillaman (Donna) of Conneautville and Richard Dillaman (Christine) of Gray, GA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by an infant twin son, James Lee Dillaman.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
