Eileen R. Gray

Eileen R. Gray, 85, of 480 Sunnyside Ave. died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, after a brief illness.

She was born in Erie, November 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Louis and Ruth Miller Sweitzer.  She married Joseph G. “Bud” Gray August 12, 1942, and he died November 1, 1973.

Eileen was a 1939 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Erie, and the Erie Business School.

She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and had been a member of the former Spencer Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

She was a loving wife and a great mom and grandma.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Ann Gray of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Richard T. Gray and his wife Diane of Meadville, and David A. Gray and his wife Kathy of Meadville; five grandchildren, Brian, Emily, Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Justin, and one great grandson, William.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William J. Gray and an infant brother, Calvin Sweitzer.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Richard Allen, as celebrant.

A reception will follow in the church social hall.

Burial will be in St. Agatha Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main St. Meadville, PA 16335.
