Eileen R Johnston of Saegertown passed from this life on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the home of her beloved son Christopher Johnston with loved ones at her side. Our mighty oak has fallen after a brave and stoic 2 year war with colon cancer. She was 61. Eileen was born May 10, 1956 in Youngstown Ohio to Arthur H. and Frieda M. Koch Allen, Sr. and raised with her siblings on a farm in Guys Mills. She was a 1974 graduate of Saegertown High School. She had a great work ethic and only stopped working for a few years to raise Christopher in his early years. Right out of school Eileen went to work in the office of Abex Corp until she left to work at Waltons Auto Supply as office manager for many years. She then started her own professional cleaning service for many area families and also took a job at Sandys European Marketplace in the pharmacy. She then followed Jack Petruso to Mill Run Pharmacy when it opened. She worked very hard and reliably until her illness and continued working as long as she was able. Eileen loved cooking and sharing her wonderful dishes with her family and friends. Her chicken salad was legendary. She loved going to the casino being with family, traveling and her work. Our family gatherings will never be the same. Eileen is survived by her loving son Christopher Johnston of Meadville; her mother Frieda Allen of Meadville; two sisters, Marlene Cross and her husband Bobby of Charlotte, NC and Elizabeth Lang of Meadville; two brothers, Robert Allen and his wife Lori of Clymer, NY and Arthur Allen, Jr. and his wife Paula of Lake Latonka, PA; a half-sister, Ashley Allen; three nephews, Jonathan (JD) Cooper of Durham, NC, Taylor Lang and his wife Andrea and their daughter Arya of Aurora, CO and Connor Lang and his significant other Lily Schorr of Pittsburgh and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Arthur H. Allen, Sr. in 2011. The family extends special thanks to Dawnmel Grove, Dr. Thomas Young and the amazing staff of the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, Jack Petruso and all of her coworkers at Mill Run Pharmacy, Kit Lang and the hundreds of prayer warriors who never gave up and Richard Schmalzried and everyone at Hospice of Crawford County. Gratitude also to Doug and Lisa Lang who, among so many kindnesses, made her last journey possible to their beautiful Hilton Head Island home. It was a wonderful wish fulfilled. Calling hours will be Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Brumagin, officiating. If a memorial donation is desired, Eileen would have suggested the Yolanda G.
