Eldon L. King, 80, of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born August 25, 1921 in DeGraff, OH, a son of Nelson and Grace Stayroock King. He married Edythe Litwiller January 6, 1941 in Saegertown, PA. She survives.
He retired in 1995 from the King Farm in Harmonsburg which he owned and operated. Eldon was a farmer for 55 years. After retirement he worked for Wal0Mart, Meadville in the lawn and garden department. He enjoyed his work at Wal-Mart and the many new friends, both customers and fellow employees.
He was an active member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Conneaut Lake, PA. He was also active in gardening, giving friends and family vegetables that he loved to raise.
In addition to his bride of 61 years, he is survived by eight daughters, Marilyn Hassink of Cleveland, OH, Judy Newman of Meadville, Sharon Shrock (Eli) of Jamestown, PA, Becky Mowris (Burnie) of Meadville, Diane Carpenter of Meadville, Lynette Spencer of Linesville, Cindy Jimenz (Hector) of Meadville and Linda King of Guys Mills; two sons, Robert J. King (Linda) of Harmonsburg and Paul D. King of Meadville; one sister, Margaret hornberk of Rocky Ford, CO; one half-sister, Marhta King of West Liberty, OH; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Beth; one son, Marian; one grandson, Kenneth Hassink, Jr.; one granddaughter, Maribeth Hassink; two brothers, Clifford and Dwight King and two sisters, Velda Parsons and Verda Koehler.
Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Sunnyside Mennonite Church Cemetery.
