Eleanor Berly

November 13, 1915 — February 18, 2005

Eleanor Berly, 89, of 431 Orchard Place, Meadville, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Crawford County Care Center following a period of declining health.

She was born in East Mead Twp., Crawford County, November 13, 1915, a daughter of the late George and Lena Medo Berly.

She was a 1933 graduate of Randolph High School, Guys Mills, and was first employed at Talon for 10 years, and retired in 1980 as a Bookkeeper/Secretary at the former First National Bank after 37 years of service.

She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.  She was an accomplished seamstress having made her own wardrobe, and also made quilts and lap robes for nursing homes.  She had enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.  She was known for her kind and caring personality.

Survivors include1sister, Marjorie Schroeder, and 1 brother Ernest Berly and his wife Virginia all of Meadville, 2 nephews and 1 niece.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bernard Berly, and twin infants, Merle and Earl Berly.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with a scripture prayer service at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with the Rev. Richard Allen as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery, Frenchtown.

Memorials may be made to St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
