Eleanor J. Waid Mickle, 91, of 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville and formerly of Saegertown and Little Cooley died Friday, March 23, 2007 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
She was born in Fairfield Twp., Crawford Co., May 14, 1915, a daughter of Lee and Eva Hill Johnston. She married Ronald Waid August 10, 1940, and he died April 27, 1967. She married Glenn Mickle June 21, 1969, and he died October 25, 2003. Her brother Thomas Johnston, also preceded her in death on June 10, 2006.
Eleanor graduated from Grove City College in 1936, with a bachelor’s degree in English. She was employed in the education department of the former Keystone View Co., and by the Penncrest School District retiring in 1976 after 17 years service. She taught in both Saegertown and Townville schools.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Gallagher and her husband Robert of Franksville, WI; a step-daughter, Lois Randolph and her husband Martin of Deland, FL; a step-son, Douglas Mickle and his wife Alice of Corolla, NC; four step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Cory Mickle, Lynn Smaczny, and Scott Randolph and 3 step-great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Saturday March 31, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in McCracken Chapel of Wesbury’s, Cribbs Home, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville. Burial will be in Cochranton Cemetery.
