Eleanor J. Tarr, 88 of Sandy Lake, passed away at 10:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Grove City Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor was born on March 23, 1929 in Franklin to the late George Hazen and Laura Anna Rote Huff. She graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1946. On June 21, 1946 she married her beloved husband Robert E. Tarr, he preceded her in death on May 8, 2014. She was a member of the Polk United Methodist Church and lived in Polk for 30 years. Eleanor retired from Polk Center in 1981 as a child care aide. She and her husband moved to Mercer county and raised beef cattle and sheep. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles and traveling and company at their camp in Forest County. She also loved baseball and country music. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Judy Bacher, a grandson Thomas J. Bacher and wife Heather, and three great-grandchildren, Clayton, Chloe, and Waylon Bacher, all of Sandy Lake, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Shreve, Audine Klugh, and Loretta Buckley, and her infant daughter, Carol Lee Tarr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Home, Stoneboro. There will be no public services as per Eleanor’s wishes. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
