Eli Mihailov, Jr.

Eli Mihailov, Jr., 84, of Guys Mills, entered his Heavenly home on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 following a brief stay at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Guys Mills on July 26, 1931 to Eli and Maria Cvijeticaniu Mihailov.   On June 17, 1967 he married the love of his life, Patricia Strawman and together they celebrated 48 years of marriage.  His sense of humor, master story telling, and compassionate heart is treasured and will be greatly missed.

At a very young age Eli began to work on the family farm and in 1949 graduated from Randolph High School.  He went on to attend Penn Tech Technical School in Pittsburgh where he learned valuable skills in the field of electronics.  He was a member of IBEW Local #1319 and worked for Penelec as a trustworthy, honest, and dependable lineman for 31 years.  Other employers were Sordoni Construction Co. in Wilkes Barre, PA and Henkels and McCoy Infrastructure Contractors, Blue Bell, PA.

Eli was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army from 1952 to 1954.  Together with his wife he attended New Beginnings Church of God and was a former member and Sunday school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Patty, include two sons, Patrick Mihailov and his wife Michele of Guys Mills and Elroy Mihailov of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Elizabeth Wentworth and her husband Todd of Butler; six grandchildren, Katey Mihailov, Karlee Mihailov, John Stigerwalt, Dylan Stigerwalt, Emily Wentworth and Tanner Wentworth; a great-grandson, Aden Stigerwalt; two sisters, Ruby Mihailov of Meadville and Desta Stevens and her husband Rev. Maynard of Cedarville, OH and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Eli Samuel Mihailov III; a grandson, Dean Charles Mihailov; eight sisters, Donna Fink, Mary Edna Mihailov, Anna Mihailov, Emily Mihailov, Sadie June Mihailov, Mildred Guthrie and infants Eva and Olga Mihailov; and five brothers, John, Harry, Milon, George and infant Daniel Mihailov.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Temple Jarrell, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.

Interment with Military Honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Radle Cemetery, Guys Mills.
