Elise Kathleen Ziegler

February 12, 1932 — January 4, 2015

Elise Kathleen (Kay) Ziegler, 82, of Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in Pittsburgh, February 12, 1932 a daughter of Howard and Ora Coffee Hathaway.  She married Rev. Herbert Allison Ziegler June 2, 1951 and he preceded her in death January 22, 2002.

She was a former active member and minister’s wife of 30+ years at Emmanuel United Church of Christ; most recently Mrs. Ziegler faithfully attended Barco Chapel at Wesbury United Methodist Community.  Mrs. Ziegler dedicated her life to her family, her husband and to those less fortunate.  She was a life-long volunteer, committing her time, talents and energy through Emmanuel United Church of Christ and Wesbury United Methodist Community.  She spent a number of years in service at the Center for Family Services, first as a volunteer and then as a member of its staff.  She had a kind word and a smile for all who crossed her path.  She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.  She had a deep faith, and she will be remembered for her loved of life, an appreciation for the beauty in every-day things and for her easy and delightful sense of humor.

Survivors, include: four daughters, Kathleen Deets and her husband William of Meadville, Marjorie Nicolaisen and her husband Royce of Orinda, CA, Victoria Wood and her husband John of Fairview and Jennifer Boden and her husband Keith of Arnold, MD; two brothers-in-law, Dick Frost of Pittsburgh and Ralph Ziegler and his wife Ellie of Lewes, DE; eleven grandchildren, Julia Deets, David Deets, Courtney Nicolaisen, Chloe Nicolaisen, Madeleine Nicolaisen, Emily Dewey, Alex Dewey, Rachel Morin, Natalie Boden, Seth Boden and Luke Boden; two great grandchildren, Freya Sondker and Annabelle Morin; nieces and nephews from the Baxter, Frost, Morton and Ziegler families; devoted childhood friend Molly “Fee” Kosakoski and loving friends and caregivers, Nancy Jenkin and Doreen Jordan.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Frost and Marjorie Hathaway Morton.

A private family service will be held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with Rev. Philip Torre, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

A public memorial service will be Saturday, February 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Barco Chapel, Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville with Rev. Sam Marchetta, Wesbury Chaplain and Rev. Philip Torre, officiating.
