Elizabeth (Betty) J. Hall Bayer, 64, of 701 N. Morgan St., Meadville, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at her residence following an 8-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Meadville August 10, 1943, a daughter of the late Edwin (Mike) H. and Lillian J. Hood Hall. She married George A. Bayer November 27, 1965 and he survives.
She was a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School and was a graduate of Michael’s Beauty Academy, Erie. She was employed at BiLo for 18 years as a cashier, retiring in 2006 and had previously worked as a beautician at Coiffures by Twila.
A member of First Christian Church, she previously was a member of the choir.
Betty was a member of the morning bird bowling league, and the Wednesday morning golf league at Whispering Pines Golf Course. She was vice president of the former Spencer Hospital Auxiliary and was a former member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary. She especially loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to her husband George of 42 years, include a daughter Katrine Bayer Haynes and her husband Brian of Zebulon, NC; 4 grandchildren, Meghan, Nicholas, and Kirsten Findley and Dylan Thomas Haynes; a brother, Daniel L. Hall and his wife Patty of Denver, PA; a son-in-law, Bruce Findley of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Lynae Findley; and 2 brothers, E. Gordon Hall and James Victor Hall.
Calling hours are today (Friday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 503 N. Main St. Ext., Meadville with Dr. Terry Clark, Pastor officiating and assisted by the Rev. David Kiser, cousin.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery
