Elizabeth L. "Betty" Mcquaid

Elizabeth L. “Betty” McQuaid, 82 of New Lebanon, passed away on December 28, 2022 at QLS-Mercer. Betty was born in New Lebanon on May 24, 1940 to the late Fred and Eleanor (Smith) Miller. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School class of 1958. She worked for 22 years in housekeeping at Allegheny College as well as housekeeping for the Cochranton Post Office.

Betty was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and very active over the years. She was also a member of the Stoneboro Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling and had visited Alaska, Hawaii, and seven different countries. She will be remembered as a good neighbor and someone who was always willing to help others. Most of all she loved being a grandma and spending time with her family.

Betty married her beloved husband; James L. McQuaid, Jr. in 1958, he preceded her in death in 1982.

Betty is survived by her children; Cindy McQuaid of St. Petersburg, FL, Carolyn (Richard)Beggs of Sandy Lake, Christine McQuaid of New Lebanon, and James H. McQuaid of Sandy Lake, grandchildren; Pastor Bradley (Amanda) Beggs, Brittany Beggs, Daniel (Kassie) Kaltenbaugh, Jacob McQuaid, and Jenna McQuaid, great-grandchildren; Myla, Seth, Judah, and Shiloh Beggs, siblings; Thomas (Leatrice) Miller and Pearl Gregory, sister-in-law; Nancy Miller, and brother-in-law; Tom McQuaid.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings; Rebecca Mason, Walter Miller, Ronald Miller, and Jeanette Zinz.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where visitation will take place from 12 pm – 2 pm on Monday, January 2, 2023. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Pastors Janet Pratt and Bradley Beggs, officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
