Elizabeth S. Gillis

Mrs. Elizabeth S. Gillis, 80, of Meadville, died Saturday evening at the Flickinger Convalescent Home after a period of failing health.

She lived her early life at Buffalo, NY, and later at Erie before coming to Meadville.  She was married to James M. Phipps and later Thomas B. Gillis, who died in 1929.  Four children were born during the first marriage.

Mrs. Gillis lived in Meadville since the death of her second husband.  She resided with a daughter, Mrs. John H. Frey.

In Erie, she was affiliated with the First Baptist Church; Gridley Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and Jeptha Shrine.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Frey are a sister, Mrs. Mary J. Blakeslee of Corry; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.
