Ella E. Stiles, 86, of 31 N. Park Ave., and formerly of Hartz Ave. Meadville, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at Wesbury United Methodist Community after an extended illness.
She was born in Detroit, MI, February 9, 1918, a daughter of Lester Dee & Harriet Mae Ferrier Ellis. She married George L. Stiles Oct. 16, 1964, and he preceded her in death, April 19, 2000.
She was a 1936 graduate of Meadville High School, and attended Meadville Commercial College. She was first employed at Carpenter Electric Co., and retired in 1972 as Sec.-Treas. at Draftco Corp., Cochranton, after 25 years of service.
She had attended Hamlin Chapel United Methodist Church, and had enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and bowling.
Survivors include a sister, Irene E. Stevenson and her husband Paul of Meadville; a grandson, Matthew Stephens and his wife Samantha of Saegertown; two nieces, Diane S. Spence of Indiana, PA, & Linda S. Melton and her husband Tim of Woodbridge, VA; one nephew, John E. Stevenson and his wife Victoria of Johnson City, TN; two great nephews, and two great nieces.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Fay Ellis and one nephew, James M. Stevenson.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev, Lea Guiney, pastor of Hamlin Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
