Ellsworth Jay Howard, 64, of Meadville, died at City Hospital, Wednesday, August 25, 1976, after an 18-month illness.
Born at Wayland in East Mead Township, June 21, 1912, he was a son of Jay and Grace Wiltsie Howard. He was married to Sarah Sherretts. A tool grinder employed by Saegertown Manufacturing, he retired in 1974. He also owned and operated Howard's Tavern on Baldwin Street. He attended First Baptist Church and was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219.
Survivors, in addition to his widow, include two daughters, Mrs. George (Marilyn) Kelyman of Meadville and Mrs. Donald (Lorraine) Jackson of Erie; a brother, Norman Howard of Hartstown; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo.
