Elmer C. Milosh

Elmer C. Milosh, 84, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Conneaut Lake, August 19, 1926 a son of John and Anna Noga Milosh.  He married Hazel (Boots) Downing August 28, 1954 and she survives.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps from 1943 - 1947.  He was a Flight Engineer on B-25, B-17 and B-29 aircraft.  He was a hard worker all his life, first working in his youth at Conneaut Lake Park.  He worked at Moss Brothers Lumber Co., including their Parkway Yard, then Crestwood Homes in Greenville, Schnarrs Construction, Rand Homes and Pat and Pete's Mobile Home Sales.  Then in his retirement he worked part time at Lake City Homes and Nyes Marina.  He and his brother-in-law, Buck Downing also owned and operated B & E Chuck Wagon in Conneaut Lake and the Oasis Night Club on the west side of the lake.

He was a member of Conneaut Lake Vol. Fire Dept. Station #3 and a life member of Conneaut Lake Park Vol. Fire Dept. Station #5.  He had a great love of cars and was known as "Mr. Particular" concerning the care of his various vehicles.  He also enjoyed amateur drag racing and snowmobiling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Hazel (Boots) Milosh of 56 years, include: a son, Glenn R. Milosh of Conneaut Lake; a sister-in-law, Lou Ann Swartzlander and her husband Norman of Conneaut Lake; a brother-in-law, Raymond (Buck) Downing and his wife Shirley of Conneaut Lake; two nephews, Rod Downing of Bay Village, OH and David Little of Meadville; three nieces, Sandra Loreno of Conneaut Lake, Carol Singleterry of Sarasota, FL and Nancy Thomas in Texas; an aunt, Peg Noga and grand nieces and grand nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Brecht; a brother, Jack Milosh and a nephew, Tod R. Downing.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Frailey, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.

The family suggests memorials be made to Help Hospitalized Veterans, 36585 Penfield Lane, Winchester, CA 92596 or a charity of the donor's choice.
