Elmer D. Ellis, 90, of Hartstown, died at his residence Thursday, August 25, 2005.
He was born September 20, 1914, in Hartstown, the son of Clarence and Blanche Hunter Ellis. He married Mabel McClelland; she preceded him in death February 9, 1946. He subsequently married Ida J.(Jean) Thompson October 28, 1950, at Hartstown Methodist Church; she survives.
Elmer has been an active member of East Fallowfield Methodist Church for the past 55 years.
He was a graduate of East Fallowfield High School. He retired from American Viscose in 1979 after 47 years of employment and then went to work for Oswald Equipment, Hartstown for 10 years.
Elmer was a member of Atlantic Odd Fellows for more than 50 years and a member of East Fallowfield VFD. He enjoyed hunting, farming and working with church and benefit dinners.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Ida J. (Jean) Ellis of Hartstown, he is survived by two sons, Donald E. Ellis (Lesa) of Conneaut Lake and Darrell C. Ellis (Linda) of Wakefield, NH; three daughters, Carol A. Williams of Atlantic, Rhonda J. Klink (Tom) of Wexford and Amy M.Barber (Tim) of Jamestown; two sisters, Marion C. Bennett of Jamestown and Mabel B. Thompson of Meadville; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel McClelland Ellis; a brother, Wilfred Ellis; a son-in-law, Mike Williams; a grandson, Chris Ellis and a great-granddaughter, Tabitha Schwab.
Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in McMichael Cemetery, East Fallowfield Township.
