Elmer J. Lance, 86, of Meadville, died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Clermont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clermont, FL.
He was born June 4, 1926 in Beaver Falls, PA a son of William R. and Anna Mae Kajsca Lance. He married Martha J. Prettyman September 9, 1952 and she survives.
He was a 1944 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps 382nd Bomb Group, 2nd Air Force. He worked at American Breakshoe (Now US Bronze) in Meadville for 35 years retiring in 1985 as a Heavy Floor Molder.
He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and a former member of the American Legion Post #55, Clermont, FL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time at their winter home in Clermont.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Martha of 60 years, include: two sons, Robert W. Lance and his wife Belinda of Dellrose, TN and Daniel J. Lance and his wife Michele of Meadville; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Karn and her husband David of Edinboro and Barbara J. Emig and her husband Patrick of Saegertown; five grandchildren, Brianna Lance, Bethany Murphy and her husband Joshua, Benjamin Lance, Deni Lance and Rachel Lance; a sister, Elizabeth R. Luce of Meadville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine Ann Lance and a sister, Joanne H. Williams
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment with military honors provided by VFW Post #2006 will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar Street, Suite 310, Meadville, PA 16335.
