Eloise Augusta (Campbell) Henry

Eloise Augusta Campbell Henry, 93, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, passed away there and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, November 4, 2019.

She was born July 7, 1926 in Burbank, CA, a daughter of Raymond and Ruth Adams Campbell.  She married The Rev. Daniel Gordon Henry April 6, 1946 and he preceded her in death February 22, 2017 after 70 years of marriage.

Eloise graduated as Valedictorian from Sweetwater Union High School and later from Southwestern College, Chula Vista, CA with an Associate of Arts degree in Music.  She had worked at a riveting factory during World War II, and briefly as a telephone operator. Subsequently, she worked part-time for the Exceptional Children’s Foundation in Culver City, California.

For over sixty years, she served as a partner with her husband in ministry as a Pastor’s wife, being actively involved in the churches that her husband served as a Choir Director, Organist, Pianist, Sunday School and Bible Study teacher. Having been gifted with a beautiful singing voice, she used her talents for many weddings and funerals. She also taught lessons in piano and the organ.

Eloise was a member of Faith Community Church in Santa Clarita, CA, and most recently, High Street Community Church in Conneaut Lake, PA.

Survivors include a daughter, The Rev. Rebecca Lash (David) of Conneaut Lake; a son, The Rev. Jonathan Henry (Linda) of High River, Alberta, Canada; two brothers, The Rev. Robert Campbell (Barbara) of South Weymouth, Massachusetts and Gordon Campbell (Ruby) of Willits, CA; a sister, Susan (Stuart) Allen of Chico, CA; a sister-in-law, Reiko Campbell of La Mesa, CA; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Gordon Henry; a sister, Joy Voss; and a brother, Alan Campbell.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 9th from 1-2 p.m. in the Barco Chapel of Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville.  The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Sandau, Jr. Pastor of High Street Community Church, officiating.
