Elsie A. Broms

Elsie A. Broms, 87, of 44760 Medleys Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD and formerly of N. Main Street, Meadville died Monday, November 5, 2001 in Hollywood, Maryland.

She was born in Farrell, PA, March 14, 1914 a daughter of Gustave and Olga Hauck Schneider.  She married Willard G. Broms January 9, 1937 in Wellsboro, WV and he preceded her in death August 21, 1985.

She retired as a supervisor at Polk State School, Polk, PA after 26 years of service.

She was a member of Meadville Alliance Church and a former church Secretary.  She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, the Meadville Young at Hearts Club and the Methodist Quilting Club in Polk, PA.  She volunteered to teach reading at the Crawford County READ Program and volunteered spending time with terminally ill patients at the Meadville Medical Center.

Survivors, include a son, Willard L. Broms and his wife Phyllis of Leonardtown, MD; a brother, William C. Schneider of Powell Butte, OR; five grandchildren, Frederick C. Broms, Edward A. Broms, Donna M. Burris, Robert A. Simons and Ronald A. Simons and ten great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Schneider and George Schneider and two sisters, Elizabeth Downey and Milda Dawson.

Calling hour will be Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The funeral and committal service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Conley, Pastor of Meadville Alliance Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake, PA.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Meadville Alliance Church, 660 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
