Emily M. Daudenspeck

Emily M. Daubenspeck, 96, formerly of Warren and Tionesta and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

She was born May 30, 1916 in Independence Township, Washington County, a daughter of Joseph B. and Nora J. Lawton Mehaffey.  She married Ralph C. Daubenspeck May 1, 1943 and he preceded her in death February 7, 1978.

Emily was a 1934 graduate of West Alexander High School, Washington County and attended Westminster College.  In her younger years, she was employed in the office of Ross Independant Oil Company, Washington, PA.  During her years in Tionesta, she was a homemaker raising two daughters.  She was also employed at the Tionesta School as a business teacher, PA Dept. of Transportation as a secretary, and Forest County as a tax collector and at the court house as the coordinator for visiting homemakers.

Emily was an active member of Tionesta United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and was a Sunday School teacher and later as a member of First United Methodist Church, Warren.

She enjoyed handwork, homemaking, gardening and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol D. Davis and her husband David of Sharon and Nora J. Daubenspeck of Warren; two grandsons, Bradley D. Davis and his wife Jennifer of Grove City and Nathan K. Davis and his wife Valene of Carnegie; and three great-granddaughters, Peyton Emily Davis, Morgan Rosalia Davis, and Brianne Adelynn Davis.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Florence Buchanan, Marianna Mehaffey, Eleanor Farrar, and an infant Lenora Mehaffey.

Calling hour will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Cribbs Home Library at Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in McCracken Chapel with the Rev. Ellen Rezek, Wesbury Chaplain, officiating.

The committal service and interment will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Mt. Collins Cemetery, Tionesta.

Memorials may be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community (for maintaining a room used by families of residents in crisis), 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
