Emma Catherine Sterrett Harrison, 94 of 370 Henry Street, Meadville, died at home Friday, October 25, 2002.
She was born March 8, 1908 in Sterrettania (Erie Co.) a daughter of Theodore Samuel David Sterrett and Minnie Gerber Sterrett.
She attended the one-room school in Sterrettania and then the Erie Business School. She lived in Union City from 1930 to 1965 and raised her family there while active in several community, social and church activities, including the Garden Club. She then moved to Erie and resided there from 1965 to 1983 where she was a volunteer hospital worker and employed at Lords and Lassies children’s store. Since 1993 she has resided at 370 Henry Street in Meadville, where she enjoyed perennial flower gardening and frequent visits from her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Emma Sterrett (Sally) Harrison of Meadville and Virginia Sterrett Harrison Thompson and her husband Richard of Hickory, NC; two sons, Paul Donald Sterrett Harrison of Raleigh, NC and Samuel Sterrett Harrison and his wife Linda of Saegertown; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Sterrett and three sisters, Esther Schaal, Barbara Gimber and Anna Downey.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ Church, 870 Diamond Square, Meadville with the Rev. Susan Buell, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Sterrettania Cemetery, McKean Twp., Erie Co.
