Emma Louise (Hogan) Slosky, 80, formerly of Conneaut Lake and a resident of Rolling Fields, passed away there Sunday, October 1, 2017 following a brief illness. She was born February 7, 1937 in West Monterey, PA, a daughter of Clair and Helen McElhinney Hogan. She married Kenneth W. Slosky, Jr. September 13, 1958 and he survives. Emy was a 1954 graduate of Saegertown High School and a 1958 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education and a minor in English. She first taught at Edinboro Junior High and then settled in Linesville with her husband and Emy taught health and physical education as well as some in the english department for Conneaut School District. Coach Emy Slosky as she was known, she loved volleyball and coached girls volleyball for several years. She was proud of the display of her volleyball achievements at the Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society. Emy retired after more than 31 years of teaching. Emy was a member of Conneaut Lake Park VFD Station 5 where she enjoyed dancing with her husband on Friday nights and also enjoyed playing cards, cooking, golfing, and spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan. Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Ken of 59 years, include four children, Julie Goldhart and her husband Robert, Jr. of Greenville, Doug Slosky of Casselberry, FL, Shari Cafaro and her partner Tonya White of Conneaut Lake, and Jeffrey Jay Slosky and his fiance Amy Davies of Greensburg and Amys son, Maxwell Davies; three grandchildren, Victor Cafaro and his wife Sasha of Meadville, Anthony Cafaro of Linesville, and Katie Goldhart of Grove City; four great-grandchildren, Victor, Jr., Flynn, Natalie, and Eva Cafaro; two sisters, Winnie Zanotti and her husband Dr. Robert of Ohio and Diane DeEulio and her husband Henry of Georgia; a brother, Raymond Hogan of North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Jeri Hogan and Noreen Hogan, both of Meadville; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Dane Hogan; a sister, Mona Sproull and her husband Paul; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hogan; and a cousin, Donald Hogan. Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 4th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
