Ernest G. Berly

Ernest G. Berly, 89, of 10420 Liberty St. Ext., Meadville, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the Crawford County Care Center.

He was born in Cochranton October 30, 1917, a son of the late George L. and Lena E. Medo Berly.  He married Virginia Lippert September 24, 1941.

He was a 1936 graduate of Randolph High School and completed correspondence school in refrigeration.  In 1943 he purchased Francis Brunot’s refrigeration business and was the owner and operator of Berly’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for 40 years, retiring in 1983.  He previously worked at the American Viscose, Walker’s Heating Supply, and Channellock.  He was a member of the Meadville Elks Lodge 219.

He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 65 years, include 2 sons, Wayne Berly and his wife Judy of Aurora, CO and John Berly and his wife Kim of Meadville; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer LaRochelle, Lori Lacy Berly, and Adrienne Vittorio; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Schroeder of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Ruth Berly Baer of Grove City; and niece and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bernard Berly, twin infants Merle and Earl Berly; and a sister, Eleanor Berly.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 27th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville.

Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
