Ernest L. Courson

October 1, 1920 — June 24, 1981

Ernest L. Courson, 60, of Hayfield Township, died Wednesday, June 24, 1981, at City Hospital following an illness of several months.

He was born at Knox, Clarion County, October 1, 1920, a son of Orville and Ruth Sloan Courson.  He married Mildred McFarland July 12, 1947.

He was employed as a machinist at Sunbeam Equipment Corp. where he had worked for 22 years.  Prior to that he was employed by Westinghouse in Meadville.

He was a World War II veteran, having served with the US Army in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Ernest L, Jr. of Meadville and Larry J. of Meadville; nine sisters, Mrs. Chester (Nellie) Newport, Mrs Frank (Florence) Hamilton, Mrs. Ward (Violet) Whitesell, Mrs. Paul (Beatrice) Mays, Mrs. John (Helen) Altman, Mrs. John (Ethel) Lindhal, Mrs. Wayne (Edna) Eddy, Mrs. Lee (Jean) Kellogg and Mrs. Merle (Ruth) Bailey; three brothers, James, Glenn and Orville; several nieces and nephews; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
