Ernest L. Courson, Jr.

Ernest L. (Ernie) Courson, Jr., 64, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born June 7, 1948 in Meadville, a son of Ernest L. and Mildred I. McFarland Courson, Sr.  He married Lucy Van Slyke December 24, 1971.

Ernie was a 1966 graduate of Saegertown High School.  He was employed in sales with Pepsi Cola for 25 years.  He subsequently worked as a custodian at Conneaut Valley High School for 15 years, retiring in 2010.

Ernie attended New Beginnings Church of God.  He was a very kind, loving, and giving man who especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Lucy, include two sons, David Courson and his wife Melonie of Meadville and Dr. Jeff Courson and his wife Sladjana of Massillon, OH; his mother, Mildred Courson of Saegertown; six grandchildren, Tiffany Braun and her husband Cody and Seth, Christopher, Zachary, Benjamin, and Samantha Courson; a brother, Larry Courson and his wife Diane of Meadville; and two nephews, Shawn and Todd Courson and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Temple Jarrell, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
