Ernest R. Cowley, Sr.

Ernest R. Cowley, Sr., 84, of Hayfield Township, died Saturday, May 6, 1961, at City Hospital after a short illness.

He was born in East Liberty, June 7, 1877, a son of John R. and Mary Carver Cowley.  A retired farmer, he at one time had worked at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh.  He was a member of Trees Mills Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Westmoreland County. He spent much of his life in the New Castle area and was married to the former Annie Lindstrom.

He is survived by a son, Ernest Jr., with whom he lived; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Eakin of Fredonia; a sister, Mrs. Mary Marthens of Denver, CO; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Oak Park Cemetery.
