Ernest W. Rohleder

October 30, 1897 — August 26, 1995

Ernest W. Rohleder, 97, of Meadville, died Saturday, August 26, 1995 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Perry Township, Mercer County, October 30, 1897, a son of Conrad and Tamar Woodling Rohleder.  He married Lillian Stevenson, August 2, 1920.  She preceded him in death March 6, 1982.

He was a graduate of Slippery Rock Normal School Class of 1917.  He received his Bachelors degree from Edinboro State Teachers College in 1939 and his Masters degree from the University of Florida in 1940.

He spent his entire lifetime as a teacher and principal of area schools.  He was principle of Hadley School, assistant principal of Sheakleyville High School, supervising principal of Linesville Schools and principal of Lincoln Junior High School in Oil City.  He retired in 1956.

He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church of Meadville and Crawford County and Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Assn.  He was also a life member of Kon Yacht Kickers Square Dance Club.

Survivors include a nephew, Dewey E. Stryer of Meadville; two great-nieces and one great-great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Styer.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
