Esther Ann Oakes

Mrs. Esther Ann Oakes, 73, wife of Harold A. Oakes, of Guys Mills, died early Thursday morning, August 29, 1963, at City Hospital after an illness of more than a year.  She was hospitalized three weeks.

Mrs. Oakes was born in Randolph Township April 15, 1890, a daughter of Alvin and Margaret Hotchkiss Morrison.  She was married December 24, 1910.  Mrs. Oakes was a graduate of Edinboro State Teachers College and taught school for several years.  She was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church.

Surviving, besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. John (Ruth) McCurdy of Guys Mills; a son, Wallace H. Oakes of Cochranton; nine grandchildren.

Two sons preceded her in death, Gordon six years ago and Robert a year ago.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
