Esther B. Grant, 92, formerly of Brawley Avenue, Meadville and a resident of Cordia Commons since November 2000 died Monday, August 12, 2002 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home following a brief period of declining health.
She was born in Parker, PA March 1, 1910 a daughter of Harry W. and Jennie Brady Grinder. She married M. Willard Grant in 1939 and he preceded her in death March 17, 1961.
She retired as office manager of Griffin Motors after 20 years of service. She previously worked at McQuiston’s Feed Store and then assisted her husband in the operation of Grant’s Feed Store and she also had worked at Meadville Paint and Wallpaper for 7 years.
She was a graduate of Oakland High School, Dempsytown, PA and a 1929 graduate of Meadville Commercial College. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher and the Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors, include two sons, Richard Grant and his wife Mary Anne of N. Canton, OH and Robert Grant and his wife Janice of Cranberry Twp., PA; four grandchildren, Jim Grant, Leslie Edwards, Kerstin Dunbar and Jonathan Grant; four great grandchildren a niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Grant and a sister Genevieve Ross.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William L. Brown, Visitation Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505-5097.
