Esther Ellen May

Esther Ellen May, 86, a resident of Hillside Home since April 1987, died Tuesday, March 5, 1991, at the home.

She was born in Crawford County on March 18, 1904, a daughter of Charles B. and Mabel Manning.  She married Rosten A. May in 1924.  He preceded her in death in 1965.

She and her husband operated the Red and White store  of Meadville for 25 years, along with the Red and White Store of Conneaut Lake.  She was member of Stone United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.   At one time, she was a member of the former City Hospital Aux.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. G. W. (Dorothy) Smith of Erie and Mrs. H. W. (Marilyn) Slater of Cape Coral, FL; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a niece and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
