Esther J. Byham, 77, formerly of Guys Mills and a resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home since June 1998, died there Saturday, November 27, 1999 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Mineral Ridge, OH, November 22, 1922 a daughter of Burson David and Tessie Belle Davies. She married Howard R. Byham January 24, 1942 and he preceded her in death March 5, 1994.
She was a graduate of Randolph High School where she participated in women's basketball. She was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school teacher and was a 4-H instructor. She also enjoyed quilting and swimming.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Proper (Ronald) of Saegertown; two sisters, Jane Hayden of Miami, FL and Lucy Miller of Guys Mills; two granddaughters, Amy Hough (Fred) and Kari Ferguson (Jeff); and a great-granddaughter, Breanna Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dan Rae Byham and Gary Rae Byham.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
